Waterproofing is needed anytime a structure is built at ground level or below ground. Waterproofing and drainage considerations should be provided for when ground water is likely to build up in the soil and raise the water table.

This higher water table causes pressure, known as ‘hydrostatic pressure’ to be exerted underneath sublevel floors and walls. This pressure forces water in through cracks in foundation walls and small openings allowing water and moisture to rise through the foundation wall joint into floor cracks.

This ‘hydrostatic pressure’ can cause major structural damage to foundation walls and is likely to contribute to mould, decay and other moisture related problems.

Upon site visit, a waterproofing review and recommendation will take place by a member of our qualified team. Applications may include tanking, known as ‘tanking slurry’ or a ‘cavity draining membrane system’.

A cavity drainage membrane system is an alternative to tanking systems, beneficial as it allows water to continue to penetrate the structure, but controls and diverts the water to a suitable drainage point.
